Registry-style ceremonies by civil celebrants, not a government registry office. No fuss, no frills, no wedding. Just paperwork.

ID Requirements

See the main ID and supporting documents usually needed for marriage in Australia.

Before we can marry you, we need to be satisfied about who you are and that you are free to marry.

Most couples usually provide

  • a current passport, or
  • a birth certificate plus current photo ID

You may also need

  • a change of name certificate
  • an earlier marriage certificate that links your names
  • a divorce order
  • the death certificate of a former spouse
  • an authorised English translation for documents that are not in English

Your marriage paperwork should be prepared in your current legal name, supported by the documents that link your name history.

If your documents do not line up neatly

That does not always stop the booking, but it usually means we need to look at the documents before confirming the marriage appointment.

Practical tip

Do not wait until the last minute.

Book first through Get Married, then send your documents early so any problems can be sorted out before the marriage date.

We are private celebrants, not a government registry. The usual process is simple: book online, pay the fee, prepare your NOIM, then we confirm the date, time, and place once the paperwork is received and we know our availability.
